art is to a movie

y tu mama tambien is such a fiercely beautiful film, weaving the tapestry of two teenage boys taking a road trip with an older woman against the backdrop of mexico's socio-political situation. containing blatant, evocative sexual depictions, it's a gripping coming of age story. although what's with the dénouement? friends are friends forever and all that rubbish, right?

but maybe the few days of summer are the few days to savour, a few days for reflection, marking the future and carving thy destiny.

the leads are all gorgeous. the narration is pitch perfect, spanish never sounds more poignant.
