reprieve

is it a sunny morning? perhaps i'll find out later. i'm maybe devoid of energy. but there's no chance to chill, with chores in between feeding sessions. there are always interruptions while ironing a pile or merely reading a news article, even during mealtimes. but this is only now, time flies as quickly as possible. was it only yesterday i was constantly pricking my fingers and playing Adele's music in a Steve Job's device?

while i'm still playing Adele's songs (my playlist needs updating), i'm no longer pricking my fingers (gtt's normal). but BP is still high, which annoys tremendously. i'm struggling with the balanced diet and exercise (nothing's new). but i'm optimistic, got to be positive. or i would forever be pudgy.

rain, shine, overcast

it has been mostly a rainy June. the summer solstice has come and gone. it has been ideal weather for a lot of people the past few days. i still couldn't function. i'm sleepy and tired most of the time. i sleep through the heat and reruns of frasier and everybody loves raymond. and i can only read and over think so much daily news, a few blogs, a few columns.

on the wifely duties, i need to iron the sweet hubby's uniforms and PJ Harvey isn't too bad at this point.

edd

in this world, it's extremely difficult to find nice and kind people. in a not so strange land, let's be honest, diffused in segregation, it's even trickier. you get this, you came from the tropics, you're taking away our job kind of tensions.

then there was Edd, the multi-talented, towering musician, very smart, very nice,  who was and still is the kindest of them all. his passing away on his birthday last year was heartbreaking. we share the same birthday and he greeted me at two in the morning on facebook on that 20th of june, 2010.

can't celebrate my natal day without ever remembering him.

seconds

don't really have the time to watch the X Factor or any reality show on ITV, or any programs on ITV. but a few people at work do follow the X Factor and it's a conversation piece to cover up the lulls and navigate the ebb and flow of working life. the contestants themselves are featured in the papers every day, so it doesn't seem i'm missing much. i just hope the winner will turn out to be like leona lewis or alexandra burke, overtake cheryl cole in the fame category, write in-depth songs that touch the soul, rely on sheer talent not a viable image.

a chair is still a chair

even when there's no one sitting there.

and a house is not a home.

the chairs look forlorn prior to handover. am not really running out of topics to share. i've been tapping my energy to watch reruns of Life Unexpected, a far better show than 90210 or One Tree Hill which are straight melodramas. Charice Pempengco on Glee is good, although I don't stream. I only saw the highlights and read the recaps. Pempengco's success should divert the Filipinos affection towards the fair skinned mestizas who merely looks good rather than having pure genuine talent. But then perhaps not, image is everything in show business.

S to Z

S -- is for snow, and summer. the weather irks, and provokes discussion into its myriad aspects.

T -- for Tottenham Hotspur.

U -- for Life Unexpected, a witty show about a formerly fostered kid.

V -- is for vignette, or vinegar.

W -- is for winter. what's summer without winter?

Wizard of Oz, West Side Story

Y -- for Yards, i miss going to a seamstress.

Z -- is for Zed. and Led Zeppelin.

F to R

F -- is for films, in whatever genre, even if it's fluff or veritable chick flicks. ok, i watch mostly chick flicks. there might not be great insights in the scenes in Notting Hill. but they illuminate my existence, and they star actors i can tolerate. because it's an exorbitant£11 on weekends, when i actually bother to go to the cinema.

Friends, the tv series.

G -- is for grandparents. no offence to my Lola Nellie. but my Lola Dels and Lola Cel made for impact in my life.

H -- is for humdrum. the daily routine is no reality show, never contrived, lots of lulls.

I -- is for Ikea, fabulous innovations.

J -- is for June, my birthday month.

K -- is for Krypton, the planet, geeks discussing comic book tidbits are amazing to watch, so very The Big Bang Theory.

L -- for Lady Gaga. i particularly like that video with Beyonce.

the Los Angeles Lakers.

M -- is for Muse. enjoyed the concert (above).

N -- is for Nirvana. good music.

O -- for onomatopoeia.

P -- for palindromes. and poetry.
and pearl jam.

Q -- is for quotations, from facebook friends.

R -- reviews. i like reading reviews on a Friday.

all the spectacle and more

probably despite conjuring my best efforts i would never be able to give justice to what i witness on friday night. i just read this review over and over and agree, yes, the muse concert at wembley stadium was spectacular. we don't have a venue as huge as wembley in bacolod. so consider me manool (i'm lost in translation). the mister and i got in just the right time to catch lily allen and then some kind souls wanted to swap seats for their group to be aligned together and we agree. i like aisle seats. i didn't have to stand for most of the concerts. i have the utmost discomfort at the pit, mousy me.

it was a comprehensive display of good music and fantastic fireworks. my eyes were terribly hurt during the performance ( my eyes are getting older). but it was worth it. the array of 24 songs was enchanting, hypnotizing. life's been richer in the process.

setlist

on june 25, pearl jam would be playing to a buoyant london crowd at hyde park. it's such a disappointment that i wouldn't be there. tickets are still on sale but i have a rather annoying, killjoy reason. bummer.

i would just feast on this page and this page.

can't read

getting up to speed with lady gaga and her music is a lot of hard work. as my musical vocabulary is quite sparse, i was thinking of tuning into the MTV channels, but their telecasts were mostly reality shows. i opted for the resident ipod's potions, i knew there might be some sort of lady gaga there somewhere, i was in luck, her debut album, the fame was part of the list. i only wanted to listen to poker face, prepping up for an interpretation in glee. the song is not matter of fact, very much a double entendre. it took a while to register. very silly.

beside lady gaga, i dip my fingers in the pop goodness of little boots, la roux, florence and the machine, jay-z's rap music. in the next few days i will try to listen to Plan B with his second album, the defamation of strickland banks.

sing a song, about kites and sorbetes

i couldn't sing to save my life. quite sad as the philippines is a world leader in karaoke singing. i envy the likes of ryan, janette, tina, etc, who can belt out tunes on the fly. if they are still in high school they could render their own solos for new directions, the show choir from glee.

as for me, i'm just happy being part of the audience. i clap and clap and salute their talents, which bring me to the song above, a performance number for my girl scout group. i can still recall the original choreography after twenty years. another song by celeste legaspi is mamang sorbetero, this was the showpiece song of my grade school choir (for which i was not a member, of course). it's easy to sing, very pleasant to the ears. in the san sebastian residence, max was the resident sorbetero. the chimes of his ice cream cart was a sound of mesmerising beauty, lights up the day of a dreary childhood.

hanker

This atrocious work sked is devitalizing me to pieces. It’s two weeks of pounding that leaves no place for breathing. I know of entities who are allergic to taking days off. That’s not me. I live for the alone time. Moments when all I have to do is read, write and visualise, not be the yes person. Hopefully the stress level would subside and I could bleed and be merry.

I couldn’t wait to see the next week’s itinerary. I want to create substantial paragraphs in order to compensate for the lack of cadence and polish of a number of posts in this page. I’m going to delve deeper into the culinary aspect of life. Most of all I want to soak in the Westfield atmosphere, take long walks in the country and just chill.

eloquence

there are reasons to miss the pearl jam gig at hyde park in june. it might be my off-kilter moderate points of view with regards to sobriety. bad choice, i do reckon.

Not content playing good music, Pearl Jam are renowned for their legendary live performances. I was wholeheartedly enchanted by the raw power of the guitar riffs at the MEN Arena in Manchester. In their last album, Backspacer, the music reflects their maturity. It’s no longer replete with the cynicism of albums past but lament about hope and optimism for the present. The tracks contains two or more ballads amalgamated to the usual bursts of adrenaline. Just Breathe, soothes and cradles our deepest emotions. Amongst the Waves laments the inspirational crescendos of love and youth. While The Fixer is a traditionally upbeat index of bleeding heart tendencies. The intensity of the chords and drums are still ever present but the anger omnipresent in the past releases is slowly thawing, fading in the distant horizons.
But as always, it is gripping.
